The studio / Austin, Texas
Our industrial R&D consulting starts at the operating problem.
Wexumi is a small industrial innovation consulting studio based in Austin. We help industrial companies turn a difficult technical question into work they can actually test.
Wexumi, trading at wexumi.com, operates this site. The studio brings an advisory approach to physical production: start with what is happening at the process, not with a preferred technology.
Discuss a projectInquiry-only. Scope and price basis are agreed after a conversation. The size of the question, access to evidence and coordination needed shape the engagement.

A small-studio model
Keep the technical question close to the decision.
A production issue can pass through several departments without becoming clearer. Maintenance describes the symptom. A supplier proposes equipment. Management needs a reason to spend. Those are different questions, and treating them as one is how an investigation loses its boundary.
Wexumi works at that boundary. We translate the operating issue into a brief that outside capability can answer, then bring the answer back to the people who will own the change. Industrial R&D consulting is useful here because the missing piece is not always another component. It may be a comparison no one has made, an untested assumption about the material, or a partner whose responsibility has never been agreed.
The small-studio model keeps the engagement centered on the question rather than a standing program of work. A bounded investigation can stand alone. A search can lead to a pilot, but it need not. If the evidence points to a stop, that belongs in the recommendation just as plainly as a reason to proceed.
We will not deliver a strategy deck without an owner, a test or a next decision attached to it.
The operator remains the source of process knowledge and site authority. Wexumi adds structure to the investigation and coordination around the next step. Specialist testing and engineering work require the appropriate capability and an agreed scope; describing that need is not the same as claiming to perform it in-house.
What the studio does
Buy the work needed for the next decision.
Each service has a different starting point. Manufacturing process diagnosis asks what is actually failing. A technology search asks what could credibly address it. Industrial innovation strategy sets the choice in the context of the plant and the people who must deliver it.
- 01
Industrial problem diagnosis
Separate observed failure from explanations that have not been tested. The work produces a failure-mode brief; its price basis is discovery scope, evidence access and the number of operating questions.
- 02
Technology and partner search
Compare technology routes against process constraints and screen external capability. A scored fit brief replaces a generic directory. Search breadth and technical screening depth set the basis, along with partner conversations.
- 03
Industrial innovation strategy
Turn competing options into a decision memo with ownership and stop conditions. Scope depends on the decision being made, the stakeholder interviews and the depth of the memo.
- 04
Grant and funding support
Connect the project to a program's requirements through an evidence map and work packages. The price basis follows program fit, application stage, evidence assembly and coordination. No award is promised.
- 05
Pilot planning and implementation support
Define the pilot gate and the evidence needed before the next phase. Pilot boundaries, site readiness, review cadence and handoff needs determine scope. A trial is a test, not a guaranteed result.
Operating principles
Evidence has to survive the handoff.
A recommendation should still make sense when the person who wrote it leaves the room. These principles govern what goes into the work, and what stays out.
They apply to an industrial feasibility assessment as much as to a pilot already on the floor. A polished document is not a substitute for a question someone can answer.
Describe the loss before assigning the cause.
A torn edge in a layered material is an observation. A weak bond is a possible explanation. Changing the adhesive before comparing where and when the tear occurs can move the cost without removing the failure. We keep observations separate from hypotheses so the investigation does not inherit a conclusion.
Use the plant's constraints, not the supplier's headline.
A technology that works on a selected sample still has to contend with the actual material range and available access. We ask what evidence supports the comparison, what operating condition was excluded and what would make the result inapplicable. An impressive demonstration can remain an unsuitable route.
Put a decision owner beside the next test.
Someone has to authorize access and accept the next decision. Without that ownership a technically sound proposal can sit between teams indefinitely. The plan should say which decision belongs to the operator and which answer is expected from a partner. A partner list is not a partnership.
Make the reason to stop visible.
Weak evidence should not become confident language on its way into a presentation. We state the uncertainty and the test that could reduce it. If an essential dependency is unavailable, the recommendation can be to pause rather than expand the project around an unresolved condition.
Let grant language follow the work.
An application must describe a project the participants can perform. Work packages should connect to technical questions and evidence, not simply echo a program's wording. Wexumi supports that preparation; the funding body decides eligibility and awards under its own rules.

Working boundaries
Advisory work, close to implementation.
Wexumi is not an equipment reseller, engineering contractor or laboratory. We do not take the place of the people responsible for safe operation. Industrial pilot planning can define the access and instrumentation a test needs; permission to install and operate remains a site decision.
The studio fits work where a company needs help making a technical choice or organizing a credible route to a test. It is not a route to an off-the-shelf machine purchase or a guaranteed funding award. If the task is already specified and only needs installation, a contractor's scope is more appropriate than a consulting engagement.
Confidentiality and access are practical boundaries too. A first conversation can work from a non-confidential description. Do not send proprietary drawings or private personnel records through the public form. We can discuss an appropriate exchange before requesting technical evidence.
Discuss a projectReach the studio
Speak to Wexumi about the work, not a package.
Use email or phone to reach the studio about industrial innovation consulting. A reply may not be immediate; this is not an emergency or live plant-support line. If a discussion needs to happen before a project decision, include that date so the timing can be addressed explicitly rather than assumed.
Submitting an inquiry does not start paid work. Any deliverables, access arrangements and engagement-specific commitments belong in a separately agreed scope.
